Dorothy Mills

Dorothy Lorraine Mills (Kubo), 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Dorothy was born June 3, 1932 in Hay Springs, NE. She moved to Ten Mile Lake near Walker, MN as a young child. On June 20, 1954 she married Gerald Mills in Walker, MN. Dorothy graduated from Bemidji Teachers College and later from Marian College in Fond du Lac, WI. She taught second and fourth grades throughout her career. She taught in Cascade, WI, Lincoln Elementary in Waupun, WI, Tallahassee, FL, and Kansas City, MO. Dorothy was a very dedicated teacher and loved her students. After retiring she and her husband had many wonderful years living in the family home at Ten Mile Lake. They hosted many friends and family at the lake over the years. They also enjoyed traveling to New Zealand, Australia, and spent winters in Arizona and Texas. Dorothy was a member of Alto Reformed Church in Alto, WI. She loved her church family and especially enjoyed the Golden Lifer’s group.

Dorothy is survived by four children: Jeff (Carol) Mills, Jim (Mary) Mills, Jan (Chuck) Drews, and Julie (Mark) Thompson; 8 grandchildren: Jeri, Chris, Courtney, Alex, Katie, Erin, Jackie, and Nicole; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and her parents, Spencer and Alvina Kubo.



Friends and relatives may call on the family on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.



Funeral services for Dorothy Mills will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church with Rev. Kevin Van Wyk officiating.

Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
