Delmer August Vande Slunt, 92, of Brandon, arrived in his Heavenly home on Sunday, September 23, 2012. Delmer resided for 3 ½ years at Marvin’s Manor in Brandon.
Delmer was born October 24, 1919 in Waupun one of eight children to Henry and Leona (Luther) Vande Slunt. Delmer attended Brandon schools. On June 6, 1941 he married Martha Mulder. They farmed together in Brandon their entire lives. He was a charter member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon.
Delmer is survived by his son, Wilfred (Kay) Vande Slunt of Fond du Lac and grandchildren Dallas of Brandon, Derek (Tina) of Brandon, Nathan (Katie) of Eldorado, Noel (Alison) of Raleigh, NC, Kyle (special friend Tabitha Zehms) of Champaign, IL, Eric (special friend Shannon Henning and daughter Veronika) of Fond du Lac, and Emily of Milwaukee; he was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Jaxon, Carson, Noah, Micah, Jenna, Tate, Julianna, Rebecca, Thomas, and special friend Avery Portier; two brothers, Howard Vande Slunt and Leroy (Janet) Vande Slunt; four sisters, Adeline (Marvin) Jahns, Alice Gilbertson, Margie Vande Streek, and Erna (Bernerd) Voskuil; daughter-in-law, Nancy Vande Slunt; and many nieces and nephews.
Delmer was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; son, Delwin; an infant son, Arthur; sister, Harriet Westra; brothers-in-law James Gilbertson, Ed Westra, and Norman Vande Streek; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Vande Slunt.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Marvin’s Manor in Brandon and all the friends and family who supported Delmer all the years. A special thank you to Hospice Hope who comforted and cared for him in his final days.

Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Delmer Vande Slunt will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon with Pastor John Tilstra officiating.
