David G. Muckerheide, 58, of Waupun, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
Dave was born December 13, 1957 in Waupun, the son of Arthur and Geraldine Burns Muckerheide. Dave was a graduate of Waupun High School in 1976. He then attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for four years. On August 11, 1979 he married Kathleen Schouten at Alto Reformed Church. Dave became employed as a correctional officer at Dodge Correctional in Waupun where he retired as a sergeant in 2011. He was very active with the Waupun Hockey Association for several years. Dave was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun where he sang in the choir, was active in fundraisers, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was recently honored with the Knights of the Year Award in 2015. Dave was a very thoughtful individual, helping others in need. Dave enjoyed family camping, singing around the campfire, telling jokes, and playing guitar. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing, and playing with his granddaughter, Skylar.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy Muckerheide of Waupun; two daughters: Victoria “Vicki” Muckerheide and friend, Jay Buettner of New Berlin, WI, and Rebecca “Becky” (Mike) York and daughter Skylar, all of Beaver Dam; two sisters: Carol (Richard) Donnermeyer of Waupun, and Sandra (Michael) Hanke of Lomira; two brothers: Michael Muckerheide of Sheboygan and Bruce Muckerheide of Madison; mother-in-law, Annice (Elmer) Hopp of Waupun; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bev (Jerry) Yunto of Watertown, Faye Schouten of Mukwonago, Dale (Chris) Schouten of Waupun, Ron (Lonnie) Schouten of Waupun, and Deb (Jerry) Heller of Beaver Dam; and nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Geraldine Muckerheide; and a brother, Dale Muckerheide.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial services for David G. Muckerheide will be held Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
in Waupun with Rev. John Radetski officiating.
The family request memorials be directed to a “memorial bench” at Dodge County YMCA in Beaver Dam.
