Daryle Buss

April 16, 1944 — April 14, 2025

Daryle Erwin Buss, 80, of Waupun, passed away peacefully at his own home on April 14, 2025, just two days before he would be 81.

Daryle was born on April 16, 1944, in Beaver Dam, the son of Erwin and Mildred (Brunn) Buss. In 1961 he met Nancy Ousterling and on February 13, 1964, they eloped to North Carolina and have since shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Daryle dedicated his life to farming with his father, brother and both sons on Buss Family Farms until he retired in 2022.

Daryle was actively involved in his faith community, initially as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he contributed his time to various committees. Later, after St. John’s closed, he joined Pella Lutheran Church, where he served as a trustee, reflecting his deep commitment to his spiritual beliefs and the well-being of those around him.

Known for his vibrant personality and adventurous spirit, Daryle enjoyed a diverse array of hobbies. He loved the thrill of racing motorcycles during his younger days – a passion he passed along to his son Cal. He also had a great love for the outdoors, finding joy in activities such as trapping, ice fishing, hunting various small game, and most of all, deer hunting. He inspired, taught and shared these passions with both of his sons, Cal and Jeff. Among his proudest achievements was owning and restoring a classic 1959 black Thunderbird, a car he cherished and showcased at several car shows every summer for over 40 years.

Daryle is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Buss; his children, Calvin Buss of Waupun, Jeffrey Buss of Waupun, and Brenda (Anson) Goldade of Sun Prairie; grandchildren: Logan Buss (significant other, Katherine), Kyneesha Laufenberg, Sierra Laufenberg (significant other, Nelson), and Jack Klink (significant other, Anberlin); and great-granddaughter, Madison Buss. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, "Murphy, the Golden," and his brother, Ronald Buss, along with many dear friends, relatives, and dogs.

Preceding Daryle in death were his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Pastor David Knuth officiating.
