Catherine (Kate) Louise Bliefnick, 84, of rural Waupun, died Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital following a brief illness.
Kate was born May 16, 1933 to Hubert and Myrtie Jones Neitman. Kate graduated from Brandon High School and then on November 24, 1951 she married Robert Bliefnick. Following their marriage the couple lived and farmed in the Waupun area. Kate actively volunteered her time to Waupun Memorial Hospital, the Brandon Historical Society, the local and county 4-H, Fond du Lac County Homemakers, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, holding leadership positions in several of these organizations. She was an organist at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church for over 40 years and shared her gift of music by teaching piano lessons. She was an avid reader, solver of crossword puzzles, and loved many cats throughout her life. Kate always looked forward to visits from family and friends.
Kate is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert; four children: Nancy (Victor) Schkade of Broken Arrow, OK, Amy (Craig) Andrle of Waupun, James (Linda) Bliefnick of Rosendale, and Louisa Bliefnick of Waupun; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two nephews: Kelly and Joel Gilmore; and other countless family and friends.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, May Donna Gilmore; two nephews: Paul and Scott Gilmore; a niece, Kate Ann Gilmore; and an infant granddaughter, Tammy Michelle Andrle.
Friends and relatives may call on the family at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services for Catherine Bliefnick will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Rogersville, WI with Pastor Kimberly Stowell officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank Waupun Memorial Hospital, and later the Intensive Care Unit staff of St. Agnes Hospital for their tender and responsive care of Catherine.
