Carlotta "Letty" J. Tolsma-Sutfin, age 67, entered eternal rest on April 11, 2025, at the Christian Homestead in Waupun.
Letty was born on June 26, 1957 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, the daughter of Paul and Dorothy Miller Tolsma. She graduated from Ripon High School in 1975 and pursued her passion for beauty by attending cosmetology school in Appleton, becoming a skilled hairstylist immediately following her studies. On June 26, 1982, she married the love of her life, John Sutfin, in Fairwater.
Letty’s career in cosmetology took her to new heights as she owned her own business in Markesan for several years. Eventually, she transitioned to becoming the bookkeeper for the auto body shop owned by the couple, dedicating her time there for 15 years. Letty decided to focus on her family, as she and John moved to Waupun, where they created lasting memories.
Letty was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her early twenties but never let the diagnosis define her life. Her passion and love for life was never diminished. Known as a relentless fighter, she bravely battled Multiple Sclerosis with unwavering strength and courage. She had an unyielding love and dedication to her children, always empowering and encouraging them to rise beyond expectations. Letty was known for her sense of humor - never missing a moment to make a joke or deliver a witty comeback. Through all her life’s trails, her faith and love for the Lord always prevailed.
Letty had a lifelong love for animals, nurtured by her upbringing on a family dairy farm. She actively participated in 4-H during her youth and later supported her children in their own 4-H journeys. She had a fondness for collecting bells and spoons in her travels, the most memorable being a trip to Europe after High School. Camping was another favorite pastime for Letty, where she cherished the great outdoors and quality time with her family.
Letty's family was of utmost importance to her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, John Sutfin; her sons: Boyd (Breana) Sutfin and Paul (Nicole) Sutfin; her daughter, Jonya (Terry) DePriest; and her five grandchildren: Amelia, Maddox, Broderik (Children of Paul and Nicole), Jace (Child of Boyd and Breana), and Hallie (Child of Jonya and Terry). She also leaves behind her mother, Dorothy Tolsma; her brother, John (Gretchen) Tolsma; her sister, Marjorie (Carl) Anderson; one Uncle and Aunt, Melvin and Sippie Miller and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Letty was preceded in death by her father, Paul Tolsma.
