Bernes “Bernie” Henken, 86, of Burnett, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at The Christian Home in Waupun.



Bernie was born October 29, 1926 in Dodge County, the son of Ralph and Frances Vant Hoff Henken. On September 1, 1950 he married Mildred Westhuis in Alto. Following their marriage the couple resided in the Burnett area where they farmed until 1990. Bernie was an active member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Waupun. Bernie enjoyed his Belgian horses, and often used them for wagon rides. He also enjoyed his John Deere tractor collection. Bernie loved his family very much, and liked being around many friends and relatives.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Mildred “Millie” Henken; two sons, Harlan (Viola) Henken of Burnett, and Randy (Michelle) Henken of Burnett; three daughters, Marilyn (David) Whiting of Waupun, Brenda (David) Buist of Ferney, NV, and Karen (Brian) Scott of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Westhuis of Fond du Lac, and Avorah Henken of Burnett; and a brother-in-law, Pat Vande Berg of Waupun.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Alfred Henken.


Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Services:
Funeral services for Bernie Henken will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Calvin Vande Zande officiating.

Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
