1931-2015
Bernie Beek, 84, of Waupun, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 24, 2015.
Bernie was born October 18, 1931 in rural Brandon, the son of Ralph and Winnie Konings Beek. On April 6, 1951 he married Angie Homan at Alto Christian Reformed Church. The couple resided in the Waupun/Brandon areas all their married lives. Bernie farmed for a couple of years and then drove truck for Moorman’s for 38 years and worked part-time for Waupun Truck Lines. Bernie was a member of First Reformed Church where he was a deacon, elder, and taught Sunday School. Bernie enjoyed pheasant hunting with his sons, shooting clay pigeons, camping, and enjoying family time together.
Bernie is survived by seven children: Cliff Beek of Waupun; Gary (Jan) Beek of rural Brandon, Rick (Karen) Beek of rural Waupun, Patricia Medema of Waupun, Brian (Deb) Beek of rural Brandon; Curt (Pam) Beek of Waupun, Cindy (Brian) Schmidt of Appleton; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Annice (Elmer) Hopp of Waupun, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Audrey Beek of Ripon; Catherine (Charley) Jansma of Waupun, Edwin (Flora) Homan of Waupun; Pat Homan of Waupun, Kenneth (Elaine) Homan of Waupun, and Carolyn Homan of Grand Rapids, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Beek; an infant son, Gary; a grandson, Dustin Medema, a son-in-law, Randall Medema, a brother, Earl Beek; brothers-in-law: Gerald Schouten, Richard Homan, and Harry Homan, and a sister-in-law, Mary Homan.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday evening at First Reformed Church from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Bernie Beek will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Bruce Wilterdink officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
