Audrey Elenius

Audrey M. Elenius, 90, of Waupun, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac with family by her side.

Audrey was born August 27, 1933 in the town of Alto, the daughter of Melvin and Aleita (Tavs) Stelsel. Audrey was a graduate of Brandon High School and married Paul Elenius on June 3, 1955 at Alto Reformed Church. Following their marriage the couple resided in the Waupun area all of their married lives. Audrey was secretary at Alto Reformed Church for 27 years, retiring in 1996. She was an active member of Alto Reformed Church, a hospital volunteer, and a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. Audrey loved to travel, visit family and friends, and welcomed many into their home. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. She had a unique way of making everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the room. To the very end, she was more concerned about others than herself.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Paul Elenius of 69 years; their children: Cheryl (Michael) Schneider, Peter (Sherryl) Elenius, Jon Elenius, and David Elenius; 14 grandchildren: Laura Lambrecht, David (Amy) Schneider, Jennifer (Joshua) Dieringer, Nathan (Lynette) Schneider, Timothy (LoraJo) Schneider, Justin (Caity) Schneider, Jordan Schneider, Jared (Abigail) Schneider, Melissa (Jason) Hataj, Sarah (fiance Dalton Honsinger) Schneider, Nicki (Gene) Cornell, Paul (Bree) Elenius, Kathryn Elenius, and Jordan Elenius; 39 great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Karen) Stelsel; a brother-in-law, Eugene Frei; and many nieces and nephews. 

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce Frei. 

Funeral services for Audrey Elenius will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Alto Reformed Church with Pastor Kevin Van Wyk officiating. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
