Andrea Marie Syens

Andrea Marie Syens, age 43 of Randolph, died Wednesday evening, May 15, 2024 at Agrace Hospice Center in Janesville following complications she suffered from a stroke.

Andrea was born on August 28, 1980 the daughter of Russell Martin and Ruth Winifred (Westra) Syens. She was a 1999 graduate of Cambria-Friesland Schools. She attended MATC-Madison and held various jobs over the years. Andrea was employed with Fortrea Clinical Trials MSN in Madison as an Oncology Project Manager 1. Andrea had a zest for life and was a thrill seeker. Many referred to her as an “adrenaline junky”. She loved power paragliding, kayacking down the Sugar River, cross country skiing, and anything else that would test her boundries. Andrea also cherished her time while attending family get togethers, camping, singing and spending time with her best canine buddy, Benny.

Andrea is survived by her sister, Michele (Brad) Bruxvoort of Edgerton, MN; two brothers, Jason Syens (Melanie Ula) of Janesville and Russell (Julie) Syens of Portage; five nieces and nephews; two step nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, several other relatives and friends.

Andrea was preceded in death by her father on June 3, 2019, her mother on Jan. 12, 2024 and her canine buddy, Benny.

Relatives and friends may call on the family on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 4:30 to 6:30pm at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home in Cambria. A private family service will follow with Pastor Darrin Vant Hoff officiating.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the UW Hospital staff, especially Andrea’s nurse, Morgan and also to the staff at Agrace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
