Alice Edna Kramer, 97, of Waupun, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 5, 2017.
Alice was born June 16, 1919 in Ironton, WI the daughter of William and Minna Schultz Sommers. Alice was baptized into the Christian faith on August 3, 1919, attended St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Reedsburg through 8th grade, and graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1937. On June 22, 1946 Alice married Laurel (Bud) Kramer in Reedsburg. The couple resided on different posts throughout Bud’s military career, the last one being Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Upon his retirement from the Army in 1963 they moved to Waupun to be closer to family in Wisconsin. Alice was a devoted Army wife and loving mother. She was an “Avon Lady” for 25 years in the Waupun area. Alice was a member of Pella Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Cradle Roll secretary. She always enjoyed the fellowship with other ladies by going to Ladies’ Club to fold bulletins.
Alice is survived by two daughters: Karol (Arlyn) Harmsen of Waupun and Lora Krueger of Waupun; five grandsons: Joel (Jennifer) Harmsen of Oakfield, Jason (Crystal) Harmsen of Fox Lake, Chad (Jennifer) Harmsen of Brandon, Kurt (Tammy) Krueger of West Chicago, IL, and Jeff (Stephanie) Krueger of Oshkosh; 12 great-grandchildren: Calvin, Carter, Kenna, Austin, Evan, Alexus, Aidan, and Axel Harmsen, and Trenton, Helayna, Logan, and Lauren Krueger; a sister, Mabel Hummel of Middleton; two brothers: William Sommers of Pardeeville and Orvan Sommers of West Bend; and a brother-in-law, Denman Kramer of Prairie du Sac.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Laurel, in March 2016; a son-in-law, Randy Krueger; two sisters: Viola Koch and Carolyn Zehnpfennig; four brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
Friends and relatives may call on the family at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services for Alice Kramer will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun with Rev. David Knuth officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
