Adeline was born at home on March 6, 1932, to Henry and Leona Vande Slunt of rural Brandon. Adeline attended Round Prairie School through 8th grade and spent two years at Brandon High School before working at Huth James Shoe Company in Waupun. On May 31, 1950 she married Marvin Jahns of Waupun at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon where Adeline was a charter member. On June 4, 1950 she joined the Methodist Church in Waupun. Then she worked part-time jobs at Fairwater Canning Factory, Miles Kimball, and then Brandon Elementary School for 39 years as a teacher’s aide, and lunchroom, playground, and study hall supervisor from 1970-2009. She loved children and was a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. Adeline was President of the Women’s Society, sang in the choir, and was active in other church committees at United Methodist Church in Brandon. She was also a member of Brandon Sno Cubs Snowmobile Club and Brandon Historical Society. She enjoyed nature and the outdoors to include boating, camping, gardening, snowmobiling, especially walking and biking. On February 26, 2021 her husband of 70 years passed away shortly after they moved from their home into Anchor Communities II in Brandon.

Adeline is survived by her three children: Clayton (Jeanine) Jahns of Brandon; Brenda Jahns (Paul Murphy) of Ripon; and Jerry (Michele) Jahns of Juneau; four grandchildren: Trisha Jahns of Brandon, Katie (Chad) Crook of Brandon, Justin (Karen) Jahns of DeForest, and Joshua (Kara) Jahns of Brandon; two great-grandchildren: Sadie and Sawyer Jahns of Brandon; brother, Leroy Vande Slunt of Waupun; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
