Helen J. Kamphuis, 88, of Waupun, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2013.
Helen was born April 30, 1924 in the town of Alto the daughter of William and Anna Gysbers Veleke. On September 24, 1946 she married Rueben Kamphuis in Alto. Following their marriage, Helen and Rueben farmed in the Alto area and then moved to Waupun in 1988. Helen was a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun where she was active with the XYZ Bible Study. As a past member of Alto Reformed Church, she was active in its Ladies Guild, Mission Society, Sunday School teaching, and Golden Lifer’s Bible Study. Helen enjoyed being with family and friends as well as entertaining. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, cooking and various games.
Helen is survived by her and Rueben’s children, Russell (Sue) Kamphuis of Malone, Shirley (Ron) Kastein of Delavan, LuAnn (Calvin) Buwalda of Waupun, Robert (Connie) Kamphuis of Mayville, Beth (Mike) Dittmann of Waupun; 15 grandchildren, Jill Poretz, Jacki Reese, Ryan Kamphuis, Joe Kamphuis, Andy Kamphuis, Nick Kamphuis, Kyle Kastein, Nickelle Sletteland, Ben Kastein, Kellie Loerop, Mike Buwalda, Matt Buwalda, Jon Buwalda, Jake Dittmann, and Dan Dittmann; sister-in-law, Esther Kamphuis of Waupun; brother-in-law, Alton Kamphuis of Sheboygan; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben A. Kamphuis; a brother, Robert J. Veleke; a sister, Everdean H. Lemmenes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon Kamphuis, Andy and Marjorie Kamphuis, Erna Kamphuis, and Howard Lemmenes; and a niece, Wendy Seidlitz.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives of Helen J. Kamphuis may call on the family on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Services:
Funeral services for Helen J. Kamphuis will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Waupun with Rev. Calvin Vande Zande officiating.
Burial:
Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery.
