Orien L. White, 93, of Waupun, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his home.
Orien was born April 23, 1919 in the town of Trenton in Dodge County the son of Henry D. and Hattie Lewis White. On July 1, 1943 while he was on leave from the Army he married Myrtle Lidtke in Fox Lake. Orien returned to the service of which he served from 1940 thru 1945. He served in World War II, and on D Day stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy France. Upon returning from the service he became employed by Blow Hardware, working as a heating contractor until 1959 at which time he purchased the shop and it became White Heating Service. In 1986 he retired from the business but helped out until 1992. Orien was a member of Union-Congregational Church in Waupun where he served on the Diaconate and taught Sunday School. He was a 54 year member of American Legion Post 210 in Waupun. Orien was a member of Waupun Lions Club for 49 years. He served as president and secretary for several years, and served every position in Lions other than treasurer. Orien served several positions in District 27A2 and on the Wisconsin Lions Foundation of which he was a Director. In November of 1998 he was the recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow award. Orien was a volunteer at Marsh Haven Nature Center and was a member of AARP. Volunteering was an important part of his life. Two days following his 90th birthday, Orien had the privilege of being on the Honor Flight which took him to Washington D.C. and the World War II monument.
Orien is survived by his daughter, Mary A. White of Waupun; two grandchildren, Melissa (Craig) Hull of Waupun, and Todd Dahl (Katie Doege) of Waupun; three great-grandchildren, Owen Michael Hull, Emma Rose Hull, and Ayanna Madeline Dahl; son-in-law Tim Dahl of Waupun; two brothers, Edward (Elaine) White of rural Ripon, and Dick (Connie) White of Waupun; two sisters, Carol Strelow of Markesan, and Audrey (Donald) Buettner of Beaver Dam; a sister-in-law, Audrey White of Green Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; a daughter, Madeline Dahl; five brothers, Donald, Robert, Kenneth, Henry, and James White; three nephews; a niece; sisters-in-law and brothers-in¬-law.
Visitation:
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The American Legion Post 210 will have the honor guard present. All Lions members are asked to be at the funeral home at 6 p.m. and the American Legion Post 210 members at 6:15 p.m..

Memorial services for Orien White will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Union-Congregational Church in Waupun with Rev. Mark Arbisi officiating.
